Wake County has expanded its award-winning Smiles program by opening a third free dental clinic in Zebulon, aimed at providing essential dental care to uninsured children and young adults from ages 0 to 20. This new clinic, housed within the Eastern Regional Center, will offer monthly appointments, including dental exams, cleanings, x-rays, and fluoride treatments, all at no cost to the patients.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to improve access to healthcare in underserved areas of Wake County. Susan Evans, vice chairwoman of the Wake County Board of Commissioners, highlighted the importance of dental health in a child’s overall well-being, stating that a healthy smile contributes to self-esteem and a brighter future. The program also aims to instill good oral hygiene habits in children and young adults, setting the foundation for lifelong dental health.
