UNC junior outfielder Vance Honeycutt has been honored with the 2024 American Baseball Coaches Association/Rawlings Gold Glove Award, marking a significant achievement in his collegiate baseball career. Honeycutt, a standout player from Salisbury, is the first Tar Heel to receive this award since its inception in 2007. His exceptional defensive performance this season, including leading all outfielders with 16.85 defensive runs saved and a .985 fielding percentage, earned him this prestigious recognition.

This accolade comes just a day after UNC’s elimination from the College World Series following a 9-5 loss to Florida State. Despite the season-ending defeat, Honeycutt’s defensive prowess stood out, with 191 putouts and five assists in 62 games. As a two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year, Honeycutt’s accomplishments have solidified his reputation, projecting him as a first-round pick in the upcoming 2024 MLB Draft.
