The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) recently celebrated the groundbreaking of the S-Line, a transformative rail project set to connect Raleigh, NC, to Richmond, VA, with a planned stop in Warren County’s Norlina. The S-Line, part of the larger Southeast Corridor, aims to enhance regional connectivity with high-speed passenger rail service, a key element in the vision to integrate the Southeast into a broader transportation network.

The project, backed by a $1.09 billion federal grant, will see the development of advanced infrastructure, including 110 MPH rail speeds, modern safety systems, and roadway grade separations. Local leaders, including Norlina Town Commissioner Tyrone Simes, view the project as a potential economic boon for Warren County, though much planning remains before the S-Line becomes fully operational.
