This fall, the Northside Food Co-op will bring a unique culinary showdown to Southeastern N.C. with “Chopped on the Coast.” Four up-and-coming chefs will compete to create innovative dishes using mystery ingredients in front of a live audience, with the goal of raising $30,000 for the co-op’s community initiatives. The event, modeled after popular food competition shows like “Top Chef,” is a fresh take on fundraising, aiming to engage the community in a fun and interactive way.
Executive Director Cierra Washington highlighted that this event is part of the co-op’s broader mission to tackle food security and promote healthy eating in Wilmington’s Northside neighborhood. In addition to the main competition, the day will feature a bonus mixology round for VIP ticket holders. The Northside Food Co-op continues to build momentum toward the opening of its community-centered grocery store, slated for 2026, with proceeds from the event supporting ongoing outreach efforts.
