The Museum of Life and Science in Durham has been awarded a $244,000 grant from the North Carolina GlaxoSmithKline Foundation to bolster biotechnology lab programming. Over the next three years, the museum will utilize these funds to establish a dedicated lab space, hire a lab coordinator, and bring in guest scientists to enhance the hands-on learning experience for visitors of all ages.

The grant also supports the development of a new biotechnology exhibit, set to open in 2026, which will focus on the impact of biotechnology on everyday life. Steve Scholle, Director of STEM Engagement and Outcomes at the museum, expressed gratitude for the grant, emphasizing its potential to inspire future generations to explore STEM careers.
