In a decisive move, the Martin County Board of Education has voted unanimously to merge South Creek High School and Riverside High School, forming a single unified institution. The consolidation, set to take effect on July 1, 2024, will result in the newly named Martin County High School. This decision follows public meetings held earlier this month and extensive reviews by the board.

Martin County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michelle White expressed confidence in the merger, highlighting its benefits for providing equitable opportunities for students. “The positive changes already occurring in one semester of a unified high school are undeniable,” White stated. While South Creek High School will close, South Creek Middle School will remain operational in its current location. The district’s Alternative Learning Program will continue on the South Creek campus. Discussions regarding the new school’s mascot will soon involve students, staff, and the community.
