The U.S. economy experienced a strong boost in September, with 254,000 new jobs added, according to the latest figures from the Department of Labor. This surge in hiring brought the national unemployment rate down to 4.1%, marking the second consecutive month of job growth. Restaurants and bars led the charge, accounting for 69,000 new positions, followed by the healthcare industry with 45,000 jobs. Government agencies contributed 31,000 new jobs, while construction firms added 25,000, signaling widespread growth across various sectors.

Revised estimates for July and August also reflect a brighter outlook, with an average of 186,000 jobs added over the last three months, a significant improvement from the prior three-month period’s average of 140,000. Economists suggest this trend highlights the continued recovery of service industries and the broader economy’s resilience in the face of inflation concerns.
