Edgecombe County is set to become a key player in the clean-energy industry with the announcement of a $1.4 billion investment by Natron Energy. The industrial battery manufacturer plans to establish a high-tech facility between Tarboro and Rocky Mount, bringing up to 1,062 jobs to the area by 2032. The project, which includes a significant incentives package worth up to $56.3 million from the state, is poised to revitalize the region following years of economic challenges.
Governor Roy Cooper hailed the deal as a “game-changer,” emphasizing the positive impact on local employment and the broader economic growth it could generate. Natron’s commitment to advanced manufacturing and clean energy aligns with North Carolina’s burgeoning reputation as a hub for innovative energy solutions. The company’s choice of the Kingsboro site is seen as a strategic move, leveraging the area’s prepared industrial land and skilled workforce to build one of the largest clean-energy projects in eastern North Carolina.
